Experiment: Gel nail polish manicure
Hey everyone,
In my search for new nail polishes and a way of providing my mum with a good and durable manicure (yes she's rubbish at it and a day later the polish is already chipped badly) I came across a little kit for a gel nail polish manicure at home.
The price on Amazon wasn't too bad considering the products included and since I wanted it as an experience and a present for my mum I decided to try it.
This particular kit included a portable LED lamp, samples (6ml) of a base coat and a non-wipe top coat, 6 different shades of gel nail polish (also 6mls each), a cuticle oil, double sided cuticle pusher, cuticle fork, polishing file, nail clippers, nail separators x2, a nail brush and a brush for your nail files, a nail buffer, 20 prep clean wraps and finally 50 mail remover wraps. A bargain!!
I have tried almost all of these tools and can say they are really good quality. I was pleasantly surprised by how good the nail clippers and the cuticle oil are. I cannot give my opinion on the cuticle forks as I don't like to cut my cuticles and therefore did not use it.
There is definitely a learning curve with these types of nail polish and my first attempt wasn't the smoothest but I have actually quite enjoyed the finished result and the durability of it.
The LED lamp is tiny and super cute, perfect for travelling and it seems to have worked quite well. Not that I am an expert when it comes to gel but as a beginner it was easy to use and with good results.
Unfortunately, I do not have a photo of my first attempt but have record of my second that I will show you in the image below.
They are not perfect I know but I actually think they turned out quite good.
Overall I really enjoyed this experience with gel nail polish at home. If it wasn't for my job, I would definitely opt for this gel manicure versus "normal" nail polish manicure and the durability is amazing and I love how shiny it stays at.
